Omega Paw Self Cleaning Litter Box Review

One of the least enjoyable parts of being a cat owner is cleaning the litter box. Unless you want to train your cat to literally use the toilet, a litter box is necessary.

Litter boxes require constant cleaning and seem to always have unpleasant odors. Luckily, technology has improved and now there are self-cleaning litter boxes readily on the market.

Omega Paw is a popular self-cleaning litter box and their Large Roll’n Clean Self-Cleaning Litter Box is one of the top-rated self-cleaning litter boxes on the market today. With its low cost, simple design, and ease of use, it’s been extremely popular for cat owners all over the country who are looking for a little bit of luxury when it comes to litter boxes without breaking the bank.

All About the Roll’n Clean Self-Cleaning Litter Box

The Roll’n Omega Paw Self Cleaning Litter Box doesn’t have all the premium features some other self-cleaning litter boxes have, but that’s preferred by a lot of cat owners. One of the main selling points when it comes to the Omega Paw Self Cleaning Litter Box is its ease of use. It’s extremely user-friendly and with a simple and uncomplicated design, cat owners are able to get setup from a traditional litter box without something crazy complicated and expensive.

The Omega Paw Elite Self-Cleaning Litter Box comes in two different sizes, a regular and a large size.

Regular Size: 20” x 17” x 16.5”
Large Size: 23” x 20” x 19”

Kittens and smaller cats will have no problems using the regular size. If your cat is on the larger side or you have multiple cats using this litter box, we would recommend opting for the larger size of the Omega Paw Self Cleaning Litter Box.

How It Works

Omega Paw recommends you use a clumping cat litter for the best results; however, you can pretty much select any type of clumping cat litter you like. Simply just fill the box up to the 3” litter as indicated on the litter box and the self-cleaning litter box is ready to go.

Once your cat has used the litter box and there’s been enough time passed for the clumps to fill, you just manually have to roll the unit to the right until the bottom of the unit is now on the top. When rolling, the grill that is inside the box scoops out the clump and deposits it into a separate waste tray. When ready, just remove the tray and dispose of the waste. You can give the tray a quick rinse before putting it back in the box, but it’s not always necessary.

You can roll the box a little after to ensure that clean litter in on the top and ready to go for the next time your cat needs to use the litter box.

As you can tell, the whole process is extremely easy and uncomplicated, which is why thousands of cat owners are thrilled with the design.

Omega Paw recommends sticking with a clumping litter when using the Omega Paw Ultra Self-Cleaning Litter Box for the best results. Most clumping litters work great with this litter box, although others tend to work a little better than others. Brands like Tidy Cats, Arm & Hammer, and Cat’s Pride have all been noted as great options for clumping cat litter for the Omega Paw Ultra Self-Cleaning Litter Box. As with anything, it is best to experiment with different types of litter and see what works best for you, your cat, and your Omega Paw litter box.

Maintenance

It is important with this Omega Paw litter box, that it’s properly set up before using. It’s a very simple design, but without it set up properly, it won’t function as intended and you may face a lot of issues and frustration.

When setting up your Omega Paw litter box, the top and the bottom should be perfectly aligned and securely clipped into place. When rolling, if any litter is escaping, make sure to tape up the litter box to avoid any unwanted mess. You can also add additional clips to the box if you feel like it’s not aligned perfectly.

At first, many cats prefer the Omega Paw litter box lid to be off when using it. You can start to get your cat use to the litter box first and then adding the lid on before rolling if you find that your cat is hesitant about using the Omega Paw Elite Self-Cleaning Litter Box.

The cleaning process is fairly simple and straight forward. One mistake that a lot of people make in the beginning is not allowing the clumps enough time to form before rolling. For the mechanism to work properly, you must allow enough time for the clumps to form before rolling.

Other than that, ensure that you fill-up the Omega Paw litter box with 3” of litter as indicated on the litter box and if odors arise, you can use some baking soda to help.
